Endowment

Lyric Opera of Kansas City’s endowment is a separate entity from Lyric Opera of Kansas City. The Lyric Opera of Kansas City Foundation is governed by its own board of three Lyric Opera Board members and four non-opera board members.

The endowment campaign was completed in 2003. The goal of $10 million was surpassed, with a total of $10.5 million raised.

The endowment consists of funds established to generate income in perpetuity. An endowment yields income to stabilize ticket prices, help cushion the opera against economic downturns, and provide financial security to continue the company’s artistic and outreach programs.
