Established in 1958, Lyric Opera of Kansas City is one of the world’s premier regional opera companies and brings high-quality live operatic performances to the Kansas City region. Renowned for its dedication to excellence, Lyric Opera presents a diverse repertoire featuring original language productions from the traditional opera canon alongside contemporary and American operas. Lyric Opera is committed to lifelong learning through robust education, family, and community engagement programming. Lyric Opera is based at the Richard J. Stern Opera Center located in the East Crossroads area of downtown Kansas City at 1725 Holmes Street. The Opera Center includes the Beth Ingram Administration Building, where Lyric Opera's offices are based, and the Michael and Ginger Frost Production Arts Building, which is the Lyric's housing space for rehearsals, set construction and painting, prop storage, the costume shop, and vocal coaching rooms.
