Financial Information

The Lyric Opera of Kansas City, Inc., a not-for-profit corporation, was incorporated in the state of Missouri in 1958.  The Lyric Opera of Kansas City Foundation, a related organization, was incorporated in 2000 and is a not-for-profit public benefit corporation. The mission of the Lyric Opera of Kansas City Foundation is to fund artistic advancement and enhance the quality of Lyric Opera of Kansas City’s productions through its management of a permanent endowment and several endowed funds.

Each organization prepares standalone quarterly financial statements.  Each entity is audited annually.  The consolidated financial statements of the Lyric Opera of Kansas City include the balances for both organizations. Each entity prepares an annual standalone Form 990 tax return of organization exempt from income tax which is filed with the Internal Revenue Service.  The Audits and Forms 990 for the most recently completed fiscal years are provided below.
