Ellie Dehn

Ellie Dehn is internationally celebrated for her portrayals of Strauss’s Arabella and Massenet’s Manon, roles that have become the defining pillars of her career. She brought these title roles to life to critical acclaim at San Francisco Opera, establishing herself as a leading soprano on the international stage. In addition, she has performed all three Mozart/Da Ponte heroines—the Countess (The Marriage of Figaro), Donna Anna (Don Giovanni), and Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte)—as well as Musetta in La bohème and Micaela in Carmen at San Francisco Opera.

She has appeared at the world’s leading opera houses, including The Metropolitan Opera, where she made her company debut at age twenty-seven as Marguerite in Faust in the Met in the Parks program, and later debuted on the main stage as Mrs. Naidoo in Philip Glass’ Satyagraha. She subsequently returned to the Met as Musetta in Franco Zeffirelli’s iconic La bohème, and Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni. At Teatro alla Scala in Milan, she debuted as Antonia in Les contes d’Hoffmann and returned as Musetta, in the same Zefferelli production (with a faster horse!). At the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, she debuted as the Countess in Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro in Sir David McVicar’s celebrated production conducted by Ivor Bolton, broadcast live to cinemas worldwide.

Dehn’s international career spans major houses and festivals, including Bayerische Staatsoper (Donna Anna), Teatro Massimo di Palermo (Donna Elvira), Spoleto Festival USA (Donna Elvira), Grand Théâtre de Genève (Agathe, Countess Almaviva in Figaro Gets a Divorce), Rome’sTeatro dell’Opera (Helena in A Midsummer Night’s Dream), San Diego Opera (Alice Ford, Donna Anna and Mimi) Opera Colorado (Donna Elvira, Countess), Arizona Opera (Mimì), Michigan Opera Theater (Donna Anna), Minnesota Opera (Juliette and Mimi), Houston Grand Opera (Countess) Lyric Opera of Kansas City (Rusalka), Santa Fe Opera (Rosaura in Life is a Dream), and the Bard SummerScape Festival (Euryanthe, Henry VIII).
