Samantha Hankey

Mezzo-soprano Samantha Hankey opened her 2022–2023 season in Golijov’s Ainadamar (Federico García Lorca) at Scottish Opera and made her house debut in Hänsel und Gretel (Hänsel) at Lyric Opera of Chicago. She returned to The Metropolitan Opera in Der Rosenkavalier (Octavian), performed a debut recital presented by Carnegie Hall, and made role and house debuts as Mélisande in Pelléas et Mélisande at Santa Fe Opera. Recent seasons featured debuts at Gran Teatre del Liceu, San Diego Opera, and Opéra National de Paris, and a return to Bayerische Staatsoper for the new production of Der Rosenkavalier (Octavian). In concert, Samantha has performed at CarnegieHall, Wigmore Hall, Lincoln Center, and The Metropolitan Museum of Art. In 2018, Samantha rose to international prominence when she won multiple top prizes at the inaugural Glyndebourne Opera Cup, Operalia Competition, and The Richard Tucker Music Foundation.
