John Kander II

John Kander is the Executive Director of Music Mends Minds, a ten-year-old Los Angeles-based, global nonprofit that creates free, live and virtual music groups for seniors, many of whom have Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, dementia, stroke, TBI, PTSD, and other neurodegenerative challenges. MMM is proud to be collaborating with the world’s advocacy and research leaders in the Prescriptive Arts to take music as medicine to scale as a Public Health Initiative, especially in communities historically the last to benefit from new paradigms in health and wellness.

His four-decade media career has included positions as Chief On-Air Creative Marketing Officer and Director of Motion Pictures for CBS Entertainment, Executive Producer of award-winning television films, and a creator of advocacy and documentary programming. His volunteer work with vital common good organizations includes serving as a Board+ Member of People For The American Way, a Board Member and team leader for Care Harbor, LA’s largest free medical, dental, vision and mental health clinic, and as the Advisory Board Chair of the Gould Center for the Humanities at Claremont McKenna College
