Nathan Whitson

Nathan Whitson resides in Kansas City, Missouri. He has performed operatic roles with a number of companies near and far, including engagements with Sarasota Opera, Winter Opera St. Louis, The St. Petersburg Opera, Union Avenue Opera, and Opera Ithaca.

Recent appearances include Zaccaria (Nabucco) with Opera Ithaca, and Banquo (Macbeth) with Winter Opera St. Louis last season. He has also appeared as Oroveso (Norma) with the St. Petersburg Opera and as Frére Laurent in Bellini’s Roméo et Juliette where he “brought a powerful voice and stentorian presence to his portrayal of Frere Laurent,” according to the Tampa Bay Times.

Closer to home, he regularly appears with Lyric Opera of Kansas City. In 2008, he created the role of Charles Robinson in their world premiere of Kirke Mechem’s John Brown. Other roles have included the Jailer (Tosca), Page (Amahl and the Night Visitors), and Officer Krupke (West Side Story), among others.
