For the 2025–2026 school year, Lyric Opera of Kansas City is seeking Teaching Artists to deliver direct instruction in secondary school Theater, Music Composition, and Choir.
Job Summary: The Teaching Artist delivers high-quality direct instruction to students at their designated partner school during the contracted school year. The Teaching Artist functions as a classroom teacher in the school community and advances Lyric Opera of Kansas City’s mission to inspire creativity, self-expression, and an appreciation of opera through classroom arts education.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging and standards-aligned instruction to students, incorporating operatic elements
- Develop syllabi
- Develop, submit, and implement lesson plans
- Attend parent-teacher conferences
- Submit grades
- Communicate with students and parents
- Complete and submit daily reports
- Participate in professional development, school events, and meetings
- Collaborate with partner school and district staff and administration
- Collaborate with Lyric Opera staff and other Teaching Artists, including regular cohort meetings
- Collaborate with Lyric Opera staff to ensure program outcomes are met
- Participate in student field trips and supplemental arts experiences
Required Competencies:
- Proven ability to teach effectively in classroom settings and content knowledge
- Experience creating and delivering engaging, age-appropriate lesson plans
- Experience with classroom management strategies
- Ability to work collaboratively with school administrators, classroom teachers, and Lyric Opera staff
- Flexibility to adapt programming based on stakeholder feedback
- Demonstrated cultural competence and commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with students, staff, and families
- Time management and the ability to balance instructional duties with administrative tasks
- Commitment to promoting the arts as a valuable education tool
- Proficiency with educational technology tools, including presentation software and online collaboration platforms

Read the full job descriptionJob Summary: The Ticketing and Patron Services Representative is a member of the Ticketing & Patron Services team and will perform the daily transactional and data entry functions of the Ticketing & Patron Services Center. The Ticketing and Patron Services Representative will provide patron satisfaction through excellent customer service and will strive to increase participation in Company events by using consistent, proven sales techniques in all interactions with patrons. Will also be the first point of contact with the public for Lyric Opera and is responsible for the phone and front door systems, reception, and mail systems.

2025–2026 SEASON AUDITIONS
Lyric Opera of Kansas City is seeking two child actors for Madame Butterfly, to portray Butterfly's child, Sorrow. Auditions will be held Wednesday, August 27, 2025 from 4:30–6:00 pm.
AUDITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Candidates should be between the ages of 4–8 years old
- Candidates should be under 40″ tall
- Children will be screened for their ability to follow direction, for their openness, and their ability to act independently.

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Due to specific requirements of the opera as written, this audition is open to Black singers only.
- Singers should bring two memorized musical selections to offer, one of which must be a spiritual or a selection from the American Songbook genre

Lyric Opera of Kansas City will hold adult chorus auditions for tenor, mezzo-soprano, baritone, and bass choristers. Auditions will take place on the following days:

Auditioners will be asked to perform one song of their choosing in a foreign language. Please be prepared to sing a second selection in a contrasting style if requested. A pianist will be provided.
