What's Included in Opera Plus

Preview Session

Packages include one sixty-minute interactive presentation, facilitated by Lyric Opera staff in the weeks leading up to the performance. Sessions include live performances of music from the upcoming production and are held at your community. This session offers a thoughtful introduction to the opera’s story, music, and central themes.

Engagement Resources

Residents who sign up for Opera Plus will receive a specialty Opera Plus welcome packet full of resources, puzzles, and discussion questions. Also included is a facilitator’s guide with ideas for staff-led activities about the opera.

Discounted Tickets

Groups less than ten people receive a 20% discount on single tickets for the designated Sunday afternoon performance. Groups of ten or more receive a 20% discount on single tickets, plus $4 off ticketing fees per ticket.

Pre-Opera Talk

A twenty-minute pre-opera talk given by a local expert is included with each ticket purchase.

Concierge Service

For community vehicles, drop-off is available at the most direct Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts entrance. Staff members will be present to welcome residents and assist them in finding their seats.

Plan Your Experience

Opera Plus packages are $300 per performance, not including the cost of tickets. This includes one preview session at your community, discounted tickets, pre-opera talk, concierge service, and engagement resources for each resident.

Transportation to and from the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts is the responsibility of your retirement community. For community vehicles, drop-off is available at the most direct Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts entrance.

Standard vehicle parking is available in the Arts District Garage or on nearby streets. Garage costs may be found on the Kauffman Center's website here.

Please note: Buses cannot fit in the Arts District Garage. Instead, buses should park on the street near the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts or at one of these nearby locations:

  • Lyric Opera of Kansas City, Michael and Ginger Frost Production Arts Building, 718 E. 18th Street, Kansas City, MO 64108
  • Lyric Opera of Kansas City, Beth Ingram Administrative Building, 1725 Holmes Street, Kansas City, MO 64108

All performances will be the held at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts in the Muriel Kauffman Theatre. Groups should plan to arrive at their scheduled time.
