Ginger Frost High School Honors Artists

Advanced opera training for the aspiring young singer

Ginger Frost High School Honors Artists is an exclusive program for the finest young vocal talent in the Kansas City area. Each year talented students are selected to participate in masterclasses with visiting artists, observe rehearsals as part of the “dream role” project, and perform in the community and in their own recital in the spring.

These high school singers pick a dream role from one of the productions in the Lyric season, learn role preparation techniques and observe main stage artists preparing those roles in rehearsal. They take part in a series of free master classes led by respected opera professionals including singers, conductors, and directors. They may be called upon to represent the Lyric by singing or assisting for various events, and their season culminates in a spring recital.

These young singers go into their undergraduate music studies with a strong foundation and invaluable practical knowledge about what it takes to be a professional singer.

Auditions for the 2018-2019 Ginger Frost High School Honors Artists will be held on Monday, August 20, 2018, beginning at 4:00 PM.
