Next in our lineup is The Barber of Seville ✂️, Rossini's delightful comedic opera, reimagined with vibrant, Gaudí-inspired visuals 🎨 that will transport you into a world of whimsy and music. This month also brings opportunities to dive deeper into the opera with our Opera Dives Deep series. ✏️ This month, we will also workshop our next family opera, Maya and the Magic Ring. 💍
As we look towards the end of 2024, you'll have the chance to connect with the community at our Latinx pop-up marketplace 🛍️ and explore new works in development, like Maya and the Magic Ring. There's something for everyone, so celebrate the magic of music and community with us!
The Barber of Seville
Next in our season lineup is The Barber of Seville! Rossini's rom-com romp comes to the Muriel Kauffman Theatre stage once again with a dramatic new flair. This production, originally created at Pacific Opera Victoria, takes visual inspiration from the whimsical and organic stylings of architect Antoni Gaudí to enhance the tall tale of Barber and create a feast for the eyes and ears!
Opera Dives Deep
Are you interested in learning more about The Barber of Seville? Join us for Opera Dives Deep on November 4 and 12, 2024, to enrich your understanding of Rossini's beloved opera. The first session will explore the fascinating life of Pierre-Augustin Caron de Beaumarchais, the French playwright whose works became famous operas. The second session will delve into the rich plot, memorable music, and historical context that make The Barber of Seville an enduring masterpiece.

Maya and the Magic ring
This month, we're workshopping our new family opera, Maya and the Magic Ring, ahead of its world premiere in March 2025. Written by composer Lori Laitman and librettist Dana Gioia, the opera follows Maya, a young girl who discovers a dazzling ruby ring in her grandmother's belongings. When she accidentally releases a genie, chaos ensues as her cat and toy unicorn come to life. Don't miss your chance to see this hilarious and heartwarming adventure about the magic of family!
