Lyric Opera of Kansas City is proud to offer touring performances of Maya and the Magic Ring to schools across the Kansas City area. Maya and the Magic Ring is recommended for students in grades 2–4. Professional development, curricular resources, and activity books are included in the experience.

In this opera for children, a young girl named Maya discovers a dazzling ruby ring in her grandmother's belongings. She rubs the jewel and accidentally releases a genie, leading to chaos as she wishes her cat and toy unicorn to life. Realizing she is in a pickle, Maya must choose her final wish carefully.

Maya and the Magic Ring addresses Kansas and Missouri curricular standards for students in grades 2-4. Learn more about specific curricular standards.
$700 per performance
This cost includes curricular resources, activity books, and optional professional development.
If scheduling multiple performances in one day at the same location, please contact ebridges@kcopera.org for a quote.
- Floor space measuring at least 22 feet wide by 20 feet deep with a ceiling height of 10 feet
- Access to performance space at least 90 minutes prior to performance for setup and 60 minutes after performance for teardown
- Access to an electrical outlet
- School volunteer to help unload and load the van before and after the performance
