And so it begins… our happy to return to FOUR full opera productions at the Kauffman Center! 🥳 Before we get started on our monumental lineup of operas, we have various fun, engaging, and often free or low-cost ways to engage with Lyric Opera. 🎨 First, we'll host a Community Conversation with FireTale Productions, highlighting the premiere of their shadow puppet production of Yeh-Shen 🐟, the ancient Chinese version of “Cinderella.”
Don't miss our new class of Resident Artists performing the National Anthem before the Royals home game ⚾ on September 21 , and a new season of Opera Dives Deep 📝 begins on September 15. Finally, the season officially kicks off on September 27 with our BRAND NEW production of Rossini's Cinderella. 👑

Featuring brand-new sets, costumes, and lighting in a Wes Anderson–inspired production, this sparkling comedy comes to life with Lyric debuts from Siphokazi Molteno and Ian Rucker, alongside familiar faces like Jack Swanson, Matt Burns, and Gary Thor Wedow. We’re heading back to Kauffman Stadium on September 21 for Opera Day at the K! Lyric’s Resident Artists will kick off the game by singing the National Anthem before the Royals take on the Toronto Blue Jays in their final home game of the season.
